What is the Procedure for Affordable Dentures and Implants?

Spread the love

dental implant-falcon dental care-falcon,co

Did you know THIS about affordable dentures and implants implants? In the Early 1900s on the British Isles it was typical to have all your teeth removed when you were about 21 years old and receive dentures as a wedding present?

What a difference to today’s wedding gifts like small kitchen appliances and gift cards!

Regardless of why you need affordable dentures and implants, we believe that everyone deserves a smile they are proud of! We offer several options for dentures and implants here at Falcon Dental Care, most being at an affordable cost!

This post will help you understand the difference between affordable dentures and implants and give you an idea of the steps needed to get your great smile!

Dentures vs. Implants

If you have a few missing teeth or have no teeth at all, getting a replacement is an important undertaking. You have a lot to consider in terms of what kind, if you want permanent, removable, partial or full replacements. Do you know the difference between affordable dentures and implants and what goes into getting them?

Dentures

Dentures are the replacement for teeth that you can remove.  These are the replacements you see used on tv shows, comics, cartoons and movies and are typically shown as being big oversized “chompers.”

The base, or the gum portion, is typically made of acrylic or nylon and sometimes have metal parts if it is a partial denture and needs to be clipped on.

The teeth are made of porcelain or resin so they remain sturdy under the biting and chewing of food.

Dentures are affixed in the mouth by using a denture glue or gel to ensure the wearer feels comfortable and confident when eating and drinking.

These are removable and can be taken out each night for cleaning and sanitizing. Our previous article, “How to best clean dentures” details how to properly take care of your replacement teeth.

Dentures, properly taken care of, can last between 5-7 years and will need re-lined and adjusted every 2 years.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are vastly different from dentures because implants require some surgery and are permanent fixtures in your mouth.

Also what makes them different from dentures is that implants feel like real teeth because they are affixed to the jawbone and structured

Dental implants are created by inserting a titanium screw directly into the jaw bone during a small surgical procedure. Once the screws bond to the bone they become an anchor which allows the custom porcelain or resin crown to be attached.

Implants can be made to replace 1 tooth, several teeth or the entire mouth if wanted.

Dental implants can be singular crowns or can be created using the “All on 4” method which places 4 titanium screw anchors in the top or bottom of the mouth and then a permanent mouthpiece instead of just one crown is attached.

When properly taken care of dental implants can last a lifetime. Teeth might need replaced or fixed if broken or cracked but the average span is 15-20 years!

What to Expect During Your Consultation

When you come in for a consultation for affordable dentures and implants your dentist will look over your current oral health situation. Depending on what your bone and jaw structure looks like, how healthy your mouth is and your overall health in general!

They will take X-rays and photos and go over the options best suited for you.

Pricing will vary and typically implants are more expensive than dentures.

Your dentist will go over all the options, prices and cost effectiveness of each option before you make your final decision about affordable dentures and implants.

Once you make your decision molds of your mouth and teeth will be taken to ensure proper and perfect fit!
